Director and founder of Dancecapade Performing Arts Center

Ms. Alice Chien is the director and founder of Dancecapade Performing Arts Center. She has been teaching and choreographing in Southern California for the past 20 years.

Growing up in the Walnut/Diamond Bar area, she has danced with the Walnut High School Dance Team, USC Dance Force and continued her dance career with the World Champion Los Angeles Laker Girls from 1999 - 2003.

She was trained at many dance studios including EDGE Performing Arts Center in Hollywood and Defore Dance Center in Orange County. She is also a dance judge for United Spirit Association (USA) and American Championships Dance Competitions.

Being a professional dancer, you may have seen her in Fox Sports Commercials, Bette Midler Show, Showtime Dreams, The Best Damn Sports Show, Monday Night Live, Jamie Kennedy, NBA Inside Stuff, and the Donny and Marie Show.

Other than being involved in the professional dance industry, Ms. Alice is also a certified Yoga Alliance instructor and AFAA® fitness instructor. She also volunteers at local schools to promote her love for dance and hopes to inspire more to dance. She continues to bring the best in the fitness and dance industries to her students.


Teaches Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, and Competition Teams

Ms. Alessa has been dancing since the age of 2. She has been able to share her love of dance, as she has been a teacher/ choreographer for almost 12 years. She has received many choreography awards over the years, and her Character dance routine for Claremont High School received 1st place at the USA Dance Drill Nationals in 2013. Training with many professionals in the industry like Mandy Moore, Mark Meismer, Ryan Lohoff, and Gregg Russell.

Graduating in 2007, she attended the Orange County High School of The Arts where her focused was Commercial Dance. She has done many guest performances at places like Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, the Queen Mary, and Hollywood Vibe Dance Competition. Following her love of dance, she performed with the San Francisco Ballet, and was a lead dancer in the North Orange County Youth Ballet Company for 2 years.

She can be seen in Debbie Allen’s musical “Alex In Wonderland,” and in a music video with Rob Zombie titled, “Foxy Foxy.” Alessa is currently a core member of Rithem Dance Company. Dance is her passion and she enjoys sharing her gift with others.

Teaches Jazz, Ballet, Tap and Tumbling

Ms. Beth Lawson started dancing when she was 4 years old. She has trained in many types of dance including Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Musical Theater, Hip Hop, and Tumbling. She has also competed in many different regional and national competitions receiving top awards. In 1996, she performed in the Jerry Lewis Telethon as one of the “Anita Mann Dancers” that aired on CBS. In the spring of 2001, she participated in a professional invitational dance competition, "Dance under the Stars", in Palm Desert where her group tied for first place. She also has performed in numerous performances at the “Teddy Bear Tea” and Dicken’s Festival” in Riverside that benefits the Riverside Children’s Hospital. Beth also attended the “Jose Limon Summer Intensive” with a scholarship in the summer of 2009.

Ms. Beth graduated from Cal-State Fullerton with a BA in Dance and a BFA in Graphic Design. She performed in many concerts with the Cal-State Fullerton Dance Department including “Tribute to the Beatles”, “Spring and Fall Dance Concerts”, and “12x16” to name a few. She was also a part of CSUF repertory company where she got to perform in the prestigious ACDFA conference at Cal State Long Beach.

Teaches Ballet and Pointe at Dancecapade

Ms. Miranda received her training at Inland Pacific Ballet Academy, as well as through summer intensive programs she attended on scholarship, including Long Beach Ballet Arts Center, Ballet Pacifica, and Boston Ballet. Her performance repertoire is composed of various classical and contemporary ballets including: Giselle, Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, Dracula, Tolerance, The Other Side, and Balanchine's Serenade, Stars and Stripes, and Theme and Variations.

Miranda has also recently utilized ballet off-stage, appearing in a commercial for The Westin Long Beach and Modeling for LA designer Kao Pao Shu. She continued her rigorous dance training while attending Azusa Pacific University as a scholarship student, earning a Bachelor's Degree with Honors in Communication Studies.

Ms. Miranda teaches Ballet and Pointe at Dancecapade.


Teaches Creative Dance, Ballet/Tap Combo, Jazz, Lyrical and Advanced Techniques

Ms. Hayley is from Murrieta, California and has over fifteen years of dance training in the styles of jazz, lyrical, ballet, hip hop, contemporary, tap, and pom. She started competing at the age of six and at the age of ten she continued her training and competing at Murrieta Dance Project. She won numerous awards over the years that she competed and found the love of teaching and choreographing at the age of seventeen. She also competed for four years in Orlando, Florida at United Dance Association (UDA) high school nationals with her high school varsity dance team, of which she was the captain her senior year.

She currently attends CSU Fullerton and is a member of the National Champion CUSF Dance Team. She is studying Child Development and would like to pursue a career in elementary school teaching after she graduates.

Laura Alexich was born in Santa Barbara where she began her ballet training at the age of six. The love for ballet was instant. Her training has consisted of classical and contemporary ballet. The collection of ballets in which Laura has performed includes, Giselle, Dracula, Serenade, The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, Swan Lake, The Other Side and The Nutcracker, along with many more. From 2007 to 2009 she joined the cast dancing in the Glory of Christmas and the Glory of Easter. Her most recent projects include a Nikon commercial, modeling for Discount Dance Supply, shooting with Balletzaida, and performing with City of Angeles Ballet in Los Angeles. Laura is a professional ballet dancer, represented by Go 2 Talent Agency in Los Angeles. She continues to teach ballet and is pursuing her passion for performing. Ms. Laura teaches ballet and pointe classes at Dancecapade!

The collection of some ballets in which Laura has performed includes, Giselle, Dracula, Serenade, The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, Swan Lake, and The Nutcracker. From 2007 to 2009 she joined the cast dancing in the Glory of Christmas and Easter. Her Most recent projects include a Microsoft, Subaru, Audi commercial, and performing in Les Troyens and Die Meistersinger with the San Francisco Opera. In addition, she worked in Taylor Swift's music video Shake It Off in 2014.

Laura will perform the principle dancer roll in the Opera Andrea Chenier with the San Francisco Opera for the opening of the 2016-2017 season. She continues to teach ballet and is pursuing her passion for performing.

Kathy Duran is from Corona, California and has over 20 years of dance experience. She has trained in styles such as Modern, Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Tumbling, Cheer, Hip Hop, Musical Theater and Swing and graduated summa cum laude from California State University Fullerton with her BA in Dance. While receiving her education, Kathy performed nationwide with CSUF’s Dance Repertoire Company and had the privilege of working with artists and choreographers including Debra Noble, Gladys Kares, Viktor Kabaniev, Rob Kitsos, Roxanne D’Orleans Juste, Risa Steinberg, Colin Connor, Marie de la Palme and more. Kathy received her Pilates Certification from Body Arts and Science International and enjoys teaching Pilates to dancers as well as people of all ages and levels. Kathy also maintains her career as a professional dancer, dancing with BackhausDance, an internationally performing modern contemporary dance company based in Orange County, Ca.

Teaches Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop and Competition Team

Originally from Taipei, Taiwan, Robert began with break-dancing/bboying and hip-hop, and eventually became exposed to modern dance at Taipei American School. While performed at several arts conventions at international school in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, Robert later resumed formal dance training at Chapman University under Dale Merrill, Cyrus Parker-Jeanette, Sean Greene, and Jennifer Backhaus. In 2006, Robert had the opportunity to represent Chapman University at the American College Dance Festival regionals in Sacramento, CA, and later, at the national festival held at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.

You may have seen Rob dancing with Breed Dance Company and in commercials such as, Sprint, Knotts Berry Farm, Sprite, Jansport, and Wells Fargo. Rob has performed with Hi-Hat, Napoleon & Tabitha D'umo, and JP San Pedro.

With his crew, Instant Noodles, he continues to battle in the bboy scene, as well as performances and competitions. Instant Noodles Crew was the Top 5 crew on MTV’s “America’s Best Dane Crew” Season 6.

Teaches Jazz and Contemporary at Dancecapade

Ms. Emily was born and raised in small town Georgia, where she began dancing at the age of six. While in Georgia, she studied and taught a variety of styles including tap, ballet, jazz, contemporary, musical theatre, and precision kick line. She performed in regional productions of High School Musical and The Wizard of Oz, and also choreographed musicals in her area. Emily moved to California to attend Chapman University, where she received a dual degree in Dance and Sociology. During her time at Chapman, she performed with the hip hop team, Team Shaka, and spent most of her time exploring modern dance technique and choreography. She performed notable works such as Jiri Kylian’s Falling Angels and Mark Haim’s Settings and Clearings, as well as the annual musical theatre show, American Celebration. She also set several concert dance pieces on her fellow students. Since graduating, Emily can be spotted in the music videos of artists such as Jessy J, Chromeo, SOLAI, Steve Aoki, and The Thread. Her choreography was accepted into Breaking Glass: The Emerging Female Choreographer’s Project, and she continues to dance with various contemporary companies in the Los Angeles area.

Teaches Hip Hop and Break Dancing at Dancecapade

Geo’s journey with dance began in Taiwan when he and his friends would meet up and practice moves after school. Moving to California after graduating high school, he attended the University of California, Irvine, where his interest and passion for dance grew. He became a member of one of Southern California’s leading hip-hop teams Kaba Modern, where he competed in competitions such as Vibe, Fusion, Body Rock and Hip Hop International. During this time, he also competed with his b-boy crew Instant Noodles, which composed of his high school friends and a second generation of b-boys who were also from Taipei American School. Instant Noodles continued to build their reputation through competitions and underground b-boy battles and found success in being chosen as one of the crews to compete on America’s Best Dance Crew Season 6. With a successful top 5 run they were able to travel to teach and perform through various festivals, conventions, and events throughout the country. Geo has also competed individually in Red Bull BC One cypher San Diego, and has danced for the Vietnamese top entertainment show Paris By Night. He continues to train as a b-boy and build his hip-hop choreography style, and is signed with dance agency Go 2 Talent Agency.
